Business Intelligence Engineer
CARFAX Europe GmbH provides trusted information that helps millions of people to shop, buy, own and sell used cars with more confidence. Our flagship service is our Vehicle History Report, a curriculum vitae for used vehicles to solve the asymmetric information problem in the used car market. Our customers get access to an extensive multinational database consisting of +27 billion historical records related to over 1 billion cars in +20 countries across Europe and North America.
Today, we are a team of 100+ people in six European countries – while retaining a start-up feeling including flat hierarchies and flexible decision-making processes.
We are a dynamic and open-minded IT team with system administrators, software developers, data scientists and data analysts with a full DevOps oriented working style mindset. Our goal is to ensure high standards of quality through continuous optimization.
Developing and expanding our business intelligence platform
Creating and maintaining complex data loading pipelines
Empowering business users with self-service analytics, develop reports, dashboards
Closely communicating with business stakeholders, fulfilling challenging requirements
Working collaboratively with cross functional groups to define business requirements
Playing a key role in data driven decision making
Learning about new tools and technologies, always improving current processes
You have 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role with the following (or similar) tools
Excellent Python and SQL skills to write production-quality code, keeping an eye on the balance of performance, maintainability, and scalability
Confidence in handling data in cloud ecosystems like AWS (Redshift, Athena, S3, Glue etc)
Experience in data preparation, analysis, and data warehousing
Building data pipelines on Apache Airflow
Building and maintaining intricate Tableau dashboards
Familiar with data engineering best practices and know how to use git
Nice to have: bash/shell, Docker, Kubernetes
A positive, can do attitude for new challenges and an ability to learn fast
Strong problem-solving, analytical, strategic thinking skills, a keen eye for quality
An appetite for continuous learning and confidence to challenge the status quo
Strong verbal and written communication skills
